Proselytizing is one thing and studying the Bible another. Very few churches go house to house without invitation. JW's and Mormons is all I can even think of. They come to my house too and it doesn't bother me. I do think that approach doesn't work. I think people who fly off the handle over JW's etc are being overly sensitive ... say you aren't interested the same way you do to other solicitors.

Studying the Bible, though, that is the testimony of the faith. Here's something on Bible study a Catholic source:
