The full extent of the damage done by the violence and rioting in Baltimore is graphically revealed today.

Dozens of shops, businesses and gas stations were burned and ransacked across the city as the streets were turned into a 'war zone'.

Shopkeepers told Daily Mail Online that they fled in terror as looters rampaged in as they were still inside - and stole everything.

A family of four had to flee their apartment above the liquor store they owned when it was set ablaze underneath them.

And a gas station owner said that he had lost $53,000 after his store was ransacked. An empty ATM was smashed open during the frenzy.

Rajneesh Nagpal, 39, was furious that he had called the police 50 times but nobody came to help him.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake today that rioters sought out 'high-dollar' items and that not every store was hit.

The unrest spread south along Pennsylvania Avenue and as night fell the looters marauded through the city with reports of a pawn shop ablaze in the South West of Baltimore.

Even the East of the city appears to have been affected and a five-story community center that was still under construction was set ablaze, though it is not clear if this was related to the riots.

At the the Keystone Pharmacy on W North looters had gone through entire sacks of pill bottles and stripped all the shelves at the back of dozens of bottles of drugs.

Prescriptions lay scattered over the counter and the floor, showing off the names of the people who were supposed to come and pick them up.

Boxes were scattered everywhere and the looters had forced open the basement as they searched for more drugs.

Asked how he felt, Mr Kang, a Korean immigrant, paused and said: 'Nothing. What can I say?

'This shop is everything I have. I used to work at Johns Hopkins but I wanted to run my own business so I opened this store a year ago. - it's my first business.

'This is America. I wanted to follow my dream and wanted to make something for myself'.

Another convenience store owner, Rashad Kahn, 49, said that he had lost $25,000 worth of stock.

Standing in front of a sign saying: 'We must stop killing each other', he said: 'I don't know what to say'.

A toxic smell hung on the air at the CVS on W North and Pennsylvania, which was one of the first buildings set ablaze.

Looters had stolen everything - from cereal to cleaning products.

This morning metal bars and lighting cables dangled from the ceiling and the floor and the walls were stained black from the smoke.

Gone: $30,000 is estimated as the bill for looting from and damage to Rajneesh Nagpal's gas station, where an ATM was busted open

Violence: The ATM at Ranjess Nagpal's gas station was busted open in a hunt for cash; it was empty. He estimates the total bill for looted goods and general damage at $30,000 to the site (as it was, right). Next door the BP manager ran for his life

Also among those sweeping up the streets was Husamiddin Osiruphuel, 61. He said: 'This is our city. We live here. We go to school here, we work here. This was totally unnecessary. This wasn't about people who cared about Baltimore. This was people who no meaning or purpose.'

His friend Hassan Amin, 62, said: 'What you saw last night was a different city. This is the real city here today'.

At his Quest gas station Mr Nagpal said that as the riots raged last night, he walked up to the police seven blocks away and asked for help.

He said: 'The lieutenant said they were busy but what were they doing? There was nobody to protect us. The rioters said they were guna burn this place down.

'I've called 911 ten times since 6am. Nothing. I've lost about $30,000 in total because they smashed the bulletproof glass - just because they wanted to grab cigarettes.

'The mayor let people do what they wanted. We are a busy gas station and we are the neighborhood store. We try to help everyone out.

'We're going to talk to our community people and close down all the gas stations. The BP guy next door was told that he had to leave or they would kill him. He ran for his life.'

The gas station manager Andrea Allen, 50, added: 'We couldn't get police to come. They didn't send any officers to help.

'We stressed that it was a gas station and the rioters were here but they sent no help. Even the alarm system was on the phone to them but they didn't come.

'One guy who was rioting was saying: I've got a big load of medicine' - he was bragging about the stuff he stole. I saw people speeding up the road to the mall to steal more stuff.

'When they came to us they said: 'You don't sell no gas, we guna blow you up. What could we do?'

    +32

Work to be done: As well as the burning and looting anti-police vandalism has been sprayed across parts of the city. On the streets today people whose neighborhoods were hit including Hassan Amin, left, and Husamiddin Osiruphuel were trying to clean up

As the rioters swept downtown towards the smart residential enclave of Mount Vernon they laid siege to family-run Ted's Musician Shop.

Fernando Roman, 64, got his first job there at the age of 13 after his Colombian family arrived in the US in the 1950s. He eventually took the shop over from previous owner Ted Martini, who had founded it the bustling, artsy neighborhood back in 1931.

Mr Roman was behind the counter at around 3.30pm Monday when a neighbor raced inside and shouted: 'They're coming, they're coming.'

'I closed up as quickly as I could and went next door to my apartment to get to safety,' he told Daily Mail Online.

'We could hear the commotion from inside. There must have been around 50 of them - they were thugs.

'They passed through pretty quickly so when the noise stopped we went to look at the shop. The windows were all smashed. They broke in and trashed the register. I don't know how much money was in there but they took everything.

'They smashed open the counters and took a couple of saxophones. These things are worth about $4,000 each - I've lost a lot of money.'

Mr Roman and his wife Nancy, 48, were able to board up the front of their store with old doors and plywood to prevent anyone else getting inside.

Today their shop floor is carpeted in shattered glass, their display cabinets are half-empty and the cash register lies uprooted on the floor.

'If it was my regular customers, no problems - but these are just young kids. They have no attachment to anything.

'They just want to destroy what others have built up. Where are their mothers, what are their families doing to stop this?'

Fernando's wife Nancy said she rang the police as the carnage was unfolding only to be told it wasn't a priority because nobody was hurt.

Two officers finally arrived at 9am Tuesday, only to refer the couple to their insurance company and suggest they log a crime report on the Baltimore Police Department website.

'Does someone have to die for them to come and protect us,' she said.

'This is the only place my husband has ever worked. It is his life. The instruments are very valuable. These little ones need to behave better. If they behave with respect the police will treat them with respect. This situation is very sad.'

Clean-up: Fernarndo and Nancy Roman at Ted's Music, their family business in E Centre Street. The mob stole saxophones worth $4,000 after he fled to his apartment for safety

Vandalized: The looters smashed open the counters at Ted's Music and left its owner, Fernarndo Torres, facing the loss of money and the need to clean up today. He said he will get his business back on its feet.

Back to business: Nate & Tony's being repaired after a window was smashed. It escaped the worst of the damage because Tony Harrison (right) guarded it with two friends, a baseball bat, a stick and six-year-old South African mastiff Sascha

Tony Harrison, owner of Nate & Tony's Midtown BBQ & Brew, took more extreme steps to protect his bar further along East Center Street. Mr Harrison and two burly friends stood guard outside - equipped with a baseball bat, a stick and six-year-old South African mastiff Sascha.

'We meant business - we wouldn't have been there if we didn't,' a defiant Mr Harrison, 53, told Daily Mail Online.

'I had the news on in the bar in the afternoon and was watching what was going on at Mondawmin. 'My contacts told me they were coming down to Mount Vernon for a "purge" - that's the word they used, just like the film.

'When I saw the rioters break through the police lines on TV I knew I couldn't guarantee the safety of my staff so I sent them home.

'I checked on my family then got ready to wait it out. I had protect "my house" as we call it here because the police weren't here to do it.

'They were out there protecting City Hall of course, but not here'

It was only when Mr Harrison and his two sentries stood down in the early evening to check on their families that the vandals struck, smashing the bar's front window.

'For the most part it was like a ghost town,' he said. 'When some kids finally came through they smashed the window. I think they were checking to see if we had an alarm

'At that stage I had left briefly to check on my wife and six-year-old daughter. We're lucky though, the damage wasn't too bad.

Appetite for destruction: This Italian cafe on Park Avenue was boarded up today after last night's violence

    +32

    +32

More damage: These businesses in central Baltimore were also badly hit as the mob rampaged through the city

'The whole front of the bar has been reinforced but if its gets dicey today I'll have to close up.'

Mr Harrison was scathing about the city's response to the violence, blaming Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake for failing to declare a State of Emergency earlier in the day. 'She's inexperienced and she's afraid,' he said.

'She should have realized she was outmanned and outgunned and asked for help. She needs to grow a set of balls if she's going to run this city. The police were afraid they would be accused of brutality.

'It's a shame because a couple of bad apples always seem to be able to reverse years of good work. The officers did a brave job but from what I heard they were told they couldn't draw their weapons or use aggression - and you can't police a riot with kid gloves.

'If the mayor had declared it an emergency sooner and let the National Guard and the other resources come in, this could have been avoided.

'But in the end it was just left to me, a couple of my guys - and Sascha.'

As the day wore on rioters headed towards Baltimore's Inner Harbor, with banks of officers prepared to stop them from trashing the historic seaport and tourism spot.

The violence petered out there by nightfall but hotels drafted in extra security and urged guests to get inside behind locked doors.

The gangs ignored more obvious targets en route such as banks and glitzy hotels, instead ransacking convenience stores and independent businesses such as the Cafe Poupon in North Charles Street.

Megan McCarthy, a 31-year-old graphic designer, spent the night out of town when she heard the city was 'getting crazy'. She headed out with a camera early today to document the vandalism.

'I took one look at the place and I thought, I don't need a camera, I need a broom,' she said. 'I've been sweeping up glass all morning. 'It's absolutely heart-breaking to see your favorite restaurants and neighborhood haunts like this. It's just a mess.

    +32

Volunteer: Megan McCarthy left town last night to get away from the violence and returned today to help clean up. 'I love Cafe Poupon, the staff are so friendly, what have they done to deserve this?' she said

Civil Rights Racism: The History The Timeline of Democrat Racism

    ................................................................................................................................
    freerepublic.com

After writing about an MSNBC talking head’s comment about the “niggerization of politics” yesterday, and watching the latest threat by the New Black Panther Party against the Republican National Convention, I thought it time to update my posts on racism and the timeline of action and inaction.

In a discussion of Civil Rights in America, how often do you hear the name of Republican Senator Everett Dirksen (R-IL)? Not often. How often do you hear the name of Democrat Senator Robert Byrd in connection to civil rights? Not often but for very different reasons. Dirksen was a champion for civil rights. Robert Byrd was not. But you do hear the name of Senator Strom Thurmond practically spat from the mouths of those accusing Republicans for the plight of Negros African-Americans Blacks, but Strom Thurmond was a Democrat in those days, and he was VERY active in trying to kill the civil rights bill. It was later that Thurmond became a Republican. Most people do not know that.

An agenda can be identified by what is NOT being said. The names of Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Everett Dirksen and the many Republicans who fought for, and or/voted for the civil rights bill are never uttered. Neither is it mentioned that Republicans voted for the Civil Rights bill in far greater percentages than did Democrats, or that Democrats had a sufficient majority to pass it without a single Republican vote.

TIMELINE of CIVIL RIGHTS IN AMERICA:

Pam Geller: No Contact from FBI, Homeland Security Since Terror Attack
    .....................................................................
    May 7, 2015 • By DANIEL HALPER
    weeklystandard.com

Pamela Geller, the woman targeted by terrorists in Texas over the weekend, says the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have yet to contact her after the thwarted attack. She made the comments last night in an interview with Sean Hannity.

"This is a serious threat," said Hannity. "Basically a Fatwa, a death threat, has now been issued. Your reaction to that? Have you had any contact with the FBI?"

"They have not contacted me, but of course we've now increased my team. I have a team now, private security, and NYPD counterterror has been in touch with me," said Geller.

"Did you reach out to the FBI?"

    "I did," Geller confirmed.

Hannity followed up, "Homeland Security hasn't gotten ahold of you, the FBI hasn't gotten ahold of you?"

"No, and this is interesting because this is a terrorist threat. And the FBI, President Obama should provide security. There's no question about it. Because he created an environment that raised the stakes on this," Geller said.

    McConnell Carries Reid Leadership Legacy
    Conservative Review ^ | 5-7-2015 | Daniel Horowitz

Here is the uncomfortable question every Republican senator must ask: at what point is it more of a liability than an asset to have Mitch McConnell serving as Majority Leader instead of Harry Reid?

At what point do you bench the player who grounds out into a double play every time he comes to the plate?

He [McConnell] has now decided to shut off all debate and join Democrats in blocking Senator Rubio’s (R-FL) amendment, which would have forced Iran to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

As we’ve noted, McConnell is not only committed to passing bills supported by Democrats, he is trying to shield Democrats from taking any tough votes. But should it really come as a surprise when the average Senate Republican leadership Liberty Score™ stands at 57% (F)?

However, with this Iran bill he has taken this degree of accommodation for Democrats to a new level. He has now decided to shut off all debate and join Democrats in blocking Senator Rubio’s (R-FL) amendment, which would have forced Iran to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

    Who Is Sid Blumenthal?
    ...............................................................................................................

    May 20, 2015
    wsj.com

Sidney Blumenthal has served in many roles for Bill and Hillary Clinton, from political Svengali to opposition hit man. So it was probably inevitable that the man who whispered to reporters that Monica Lewinsky threw herself on Bill Clinton would eventually show up in Hillary’s State Department email imbroglio, and in ways that illuminate the Clinton family mores.

The New York Times reported Monday on email records showing that Mr. Blumenthal was on the payroll of the Clinton Foundation at the same time he was being paid by groups helping Mrs. Clinton’s presidential run, at the same time he was advising a U.S. business seeking Libyan contracts, at the same time he was secretly advising Secretary of State Clinton about Libya. Every top American diplomat apparently needs a good man Friday who no one else knows about.

The news raises questions about whether Mr. Blumenthal’s work with Mrs. Clinton at State in any way benefited his private dealings, or how any of it fit into his work for the foundation.

Mr. Blumenthal isn’t talking, and Mrs. Clinton’s emails are still conveniently being vetted for future release by the State Department (at least the ones she didn’t erase).

Mrs. Clinton emerged from a month of silence Tuesday to declare that “I want those emails out,” though she’s helpless because “they’re not mine. They belong to the State Department.” Yet even the details we know offer broader lessons about the Clinton political method.

*** They reinforce, for starters, that the Clinton Foundation is not and never has been a charity. Bill and Hillary created it in 2001 as a vehicle to assist their continuing political ambitions, in particular Mrs. Clinton’s run for the White House. Any good the foundation does is incidental to its bigger role as a fund-raising network and a jobs program for Clinton political operatives.

The Times reports that Mr. Blumenthal was paid to do “research, ‘message guidance,’ and the planning of commemorative events.” Was he paid by the Clinton Foundation—which is funded in part by foreign governments—to write memos for the Secretary of State?

We are also learning more about other appendages of the Clinton campaign machine, including so-called progressive “watchdog” groups. The Times reports that Mr. Blumenthal was also cashing paychecks from Media Matters and the liberal Super Pac American Bridge, both of which happen to be founded by Blumenthal protégé and professional Clinton hit man David Brock.

American Bridge describes itself as a “communications organization committed to holding Republicans accountable,” which is another way of saying it works—under Mr. Blumenthal’s tutelage—as Mrs. Clinton’s attack machine. Media Matters is a propaganda operation that got its start with help from the Center for American Progress, which was founded by John Podesta, who is now chairing Hillary’s presidential campaign.

The Blumenthal Files are the latest reminder that Mrs. Clinton’s email deletions deserve a criminal investigation. Recall that Mr. Blumenthal was barred by the Obama Administration from working at the State Department, despite Mrs. Clinton’s request to hire her old pal. We now know she worked with him anyway, potentially in violation of State rules, and that both used private email addresses.

The only reason we know this, however, is because a Romanian hacker a few years back infiltrated Mr. Blumenthal’s email and posted some correspondence with Mrs. Clinton online. Mrs. Clinton has now turned over (some of) her Blumenthal correspondence to the State Department. How many other private emails, which weren’t exposed through a hack, did Mrs. Clinton delete?

The Blumenthal memos also deserve Justice Department scrutiny. Team Clinton wants the world to think Mr. Blumenthal was simply offering his old friend some helpful intelligence gleaned in the course of his Libya work. A less charitable view is that Mr. Blumenthal was funneling information to the nation’s top diplomat in hopes that it would trigger actions to benefit his business interests.

The Times reports that in one memo Mr. Blumenthal provided Mrs. Clinton the name of what he viewed to be one of the “most influential” advisers to the new Libyan government. It happens this was also the adviser the Blumenthal business group was hoping would provide it with financing. Even as Mr. Blumenthal was whispering in Mrs. Clinton’s ear, one of his business associates reached out to a senior Clinton aide to “introduce the venture” and seek a meeting with the U.S. ambassador in Libya.

Meanwhile, among the details in the hacked Blumenthal emails is that he passed along a memo to Mrs. Clinton from an adviser to Georgia billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili—then running for prime minister, opposed by President Mikheil Saakashvili—asking the State Department to give support to his candidate. Mr. Blumenthal warned in his memo that Georgia could be “a potential hot spot a month before the [2012] US elections,” leaving the impression he thought she should take the plea seriously.

This is highly dubious behavior. In early April a conservative-leaning ethics group, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, requested that the Justice Department investigate whether Mr. Blumenthal had violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act. This is the law requiring that anyone lobbying—defined broadly—for a foreign government must register with the Attorney General. Justice brushed off the request, as it always has during this Administration, but the query ought to be renewed in light of Mr. Blumenthal’s work regarding Libya.

*** House investigators now intend to interview Mr. Blumenthal, and let’s hope they can uncover more about this pal of Hillary’s job as unofficial political and foreign-policy adviser to a Secretary of State.

The broader point is that this is how the Clintons operate—on the edge of the law, mixing business and politics, the personal with the official, in a way designed to help the Clintons and their friends profit from both.

An Obama Crime Wave Spreads Across America

    Investor's Business Daily
    05/26/2015 06:56 PM ET

    Excerpt:

Fueled by this president's anti-police policies and race-baiting rhetoric, thugs are attacking cops and terrorizing major cities. Horrible violence is breaking out all over. We are witnessing a national crime wave.

Law enforcement expects to see an escalation in criminal activity over the summer. Already we've seen a disturbing trend in May, including:

    • The deadliest month Baltimore has seen in more than 15 years, with almost 30 shootings and nine deaths just over the holiday weekend. That makes well over 100 murders this year, compared with 71 at this time last year, the fastest the city has reached 100 homicides since 2007.

    • Any time Baltimore officers respond to calls on the city's west side, scene of the Freddie Gray riots, as many as 50 people threaten them, Police Chief Anthony Batts says. "We have to send out multiple units just to do basic police work," he said. "It makes it very difficult to follow up on violence that takes place there."

    • In Melbourne, Fla., likewise, police have reported mobs surrounding and striking cops trying to handcuff suspects in two separate cases in the past two weeks.

    • A similar spike in violence was reported in Chicago, where 12 people were killed and at least 44 — including a 4-year-old girl — wounded in mostly gang-related shootings over the Memorial Day weekend.

    *snip*

Victims can blame the crime surge on politicians who give criminals "space" to break the law. Who order cops to stop "stop and frisks." Who tie their hands while giving thugs license to loot and kill.

Called "racists," officers' morale is in the sewer. Cops fear for their safety and worry about being unfairly accused of using excessive force against black criminals.

New York's liberal mayor is even calling for "amnesty" for criminals with outstanding warrants, on recommendation from President Obama's police reform task force, which also urges police to "de-escalate and retreat" when trying to arrest violent offenders.

Obama, meanwhile, has unilaterally disarmed local police by banning military-style antiriot gear.

This is a recipe for the national crime wave we predicted in January 2009. Then, we editorialized that "Obama may have to deal with a crime wave the likes of which we haven't seen in decades," thanks to his soft-on-crime urban policies.

Regrettably, crime was an issue left undebated during the last two presidential races. It should move front and center this campaign.

"[Maxine] Waters has been criticized for her comments regarding the Los Angeles riots of 1992. In defense of the people that looted stores and damaged property, Waters said 'If you call it a riot it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason. I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable. So I call it a rebellion.'[5] She also said it was 'a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice' and 'The anger in my district is righteous. I'm just as angry as they are.' She responded to the mass looting of Korean-owned stores by saying: 'There were mothers who took this as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes. They are not crooks. Everybody in the street was not a thug or a hood.'"

Favors to foundation donors stretch back to Hillary Clinton’s Senate days

Earmarks, legislative action benefited husband’s benefactors

    washingtontimes.com

By Kelly Riddell - The Washington Times - Wednesday, June 10, 2015

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s efforts to provide favors to major donors to her husband’s global charity or her own political career stretch back far earlier than her tenure as America’s top diplomat, dating to the time she served as a U.S. senator and had the power to earmark federal funds and influence legislation, records show.

For instance, Mrs. Clinton introduced a bill when she was New York’s junior senator that allowed a donor to the Clinton Foundation to use tax-exempt bonds to build a shopping center in Syracuse, New York, public records show.

She also went to bat for Freddie Mac, working to defeat legislation that would have subjected the mortgage giant to tougher regulations before the housing bubble burst and led to a major recession.

That same year, Freddie Mac donated $50,000 to $100,000 to her husband’s charity, originally called the William J. Clinton Foundation records show.

Mrs. Clinton also used her leverage as a senator to help persuade the Chinese government to reduce tariffs on Corning Inc.’s fiber optic products. The central New York company’s employees and executives contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to her campaigns and political action committee.

Analysts on political money have said the pattern of Mrs. Clinton’s intervention on behalf of donors to her husband’s charity raise troubling ethical questions.

“It seems like the Clinton Foundation operates as a slush fund for the Clintons,Bill Allison, a senior fellow at the Sunlight Foundation, a government watchdog group, told the New York Post in April after conflict-of-interest reports started surfacing between the Clinton Foundation and Mrs. Clinton’s political work. Mr. Allison declined to be interviewed for this article.

A Fox News poll released last week suggests that Americans agree with Mr. Allison’s viewpoint. Sixty-one percent of voters said it was somewhat likely that the Clintons were “selling influence to foreign contributors” who made donations to the Clinton Foundation while Mrs. Clinton served as secretary of state.

In a CNN/ORC poll conducted this month, 57 percent of Americans said Mrs. Clinton was not honest and trustworthy, up from 49 percent in March.

Mrs. Clinton’s tenure as New York’s senator only adds to the storyline of political favors for wealthy contributors.

In 2004, Robert J. Congel, an upstate New York builder, contributed $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation — one month after Mrs. Clinton, as senator, helped enact legislation that allowed Mr. Congel’s firm to use tax-free bonds to build a mega-shopping center dubbed Destiny USA in Syracuse.

About year later, Mrs. Clinton put an additional earmark in a highway bill for $5 million for Mr. Congel’s development project, which passed nine months after Mr. Congel donated to the Clinton Foundation.

Overall, Destiny USA, now the sixth-largest shopping mall in the U.S., received 15 government tax subsidies valued at more than $703.6 million, making the Syracuse property one of the biggest recipients of economic development dollars in the nation, according to a report released by Good Jobs First, a research center in Washington. Not all the money was paid out during Mrs. Clinton’s term as senator.

Mr. Congel declined to be interviewed for this article, as did a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign. But back in 2009, Mrs. Clinton’s spokesman Philippe Reines told The New York Times that there was no connection between Mr. Congel’s donation and her legislative work on his project.

Mrs. Clinton supported expansion of the mall “purely as part of her unwavering commitment to improving upstate New York’s struggling economy, and nothing more,” Mr. Reines told the New York paper. He added that Mrs. Clinton didn’t solicit the money from Mr. Congel or discuss it with him or anyone on his behalf and was unaware of its timing and size until some years later.

Mrs. Clinton’s team was quick to note that she was just one of a number of New York politicians, both Democratic and Republican, who helped enact the bill that gave the tax breaks to Destiny USA.

    Story Continues ?

Obama Administration to Impose New MPG Rules on Large Trucks
    Fox Business ^ | 6/19/2015 | Matthew Rocco

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency unveiled its proposal for new fuel-economy standards that apply to big rigs and other heavy-duty trucks, marking another step in the Obama administration’s push for stricter climate regulations.

Based on a draft released Friday, the federal rules will require that tractors use 24% less fuel compared to projected 2018 levels. Heavy-duty pickup trucks and vans must achieve a 16% reduction.

The pending rules impact large diesel-powered vehicles like 18-wheelers, buses, garbage trucks and heavy-duty pickups. These commercial vehicles account for roughly 7% of all vehicles on U.S. roads but 25% of fuel consumption.

Friday’s draft sets Phase II of the EPA’s truck rules into motion. Phase I was completed in 2011, covering heavy-duty trucks from model years 2014 to 2018. Phase II will apply to trucks manufactured after that period.

Obama Compares Chapel Hill Muslim Shooting Victims to Charleston Church Massacre

    ..............................................................................................
    Breitbart - Big Government ^ | 6-23-2015 | Ben Shapiro

On Monday evening, President Obama spoke at the White House annual Iftar dinner, where he continued the promulgate the unifying theme of his presidency: America is deeply racist and evil. Speaking to Muslims, he mentioned the racist terrorist attack by Dylann Storm Roof at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina, then compared it with a highly-covered crime against Muslims: “When our values are threatened, we come together as one nation. When three young Muslim Americans were brutally murdered in Chapel Hill earlier this year, Americans of all faiths rallied around that community.”

He then added, “As Americans, we insist that nobody should be targeted because of who they are, what they look like, who they love, how they worship. We stand united against these hateful acts.”

By way of contrast, when President Obama hosted the White House Hanukkah dinner, he reportedly made no mention of anti-Semitic crimes. Instead, he stated that he was Jewish “in my soul.”

Obama also made no statement with regard to the worldwide Islamist problem of targeting people because of who they are, what they look like and how they worship.

Never mind that the police say the slaying of three young Muslims in North Carolina wasn’t a hate crime, but an argument over parking. The left insists that the killings represent America’s brutality toward Muslims, and no fact pattern will be allowed to demonstrate otherwise.

President Obama’s decision to label a crime a hate crime – without any supporting evidence – follows hard on Obama’s decision to label America a continuing horror show of racism over the weekend:

Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of not being polite to say n****r in public. That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don’t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.

Of course, nobody has argued that racism disappeared overnight in the United States. The fight against racism has been a long, 200 to 300 year slog, with hundreds of thousands of deaths along the way. But for Obama, none of that matters: slavery, Obama said, “casts a long shadow and that’s still part of our DNA that’s passed on.”

Slavery is not part of our DNA in any meaningful sense: slavery, like racism, was a learned phenomenon, not a biological one. For the captain of the self-appointed Party of Science™ to embrace the Lamarckian notion that racism is socially created and then passed down generation-to-generation in a genetic process demonstrates the depth of his desire to perpetuate racial conflict.

As thousands of Americans, black, white, and every other color came together in Charleston, South Carolina, once the heart of the slave-owning South, the president could have focused on how far we have come. Instead, he chose to polarize.

That is what this president does, and that is what his administration does.

The media and leftist politicians have done far more to promote modern racial discord and unrest than the Confederate flag. Which is why they swivel Americans’ attention from sympathy and grief for black victims to largely-mindless debates over the historic and social value of a symbol variously understood as representing racism and/or Southern heritage.

It’s also why the media and President Obama generate controversy over the replacement of Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill with a female player yet-to-be-named: Americans agree that women are wonderful, important, and ought to have equal rights, so the left promptly insults one of America’s most important founding fathers to create opposition they can label sexist.

For President Obama and the media, America must be portrayed as evil consistently and relentlessly. If Americans of all stripes were to realize just how wonderful and tolerant their neighbors are, why would we need the benevolent hand of an overbearing government to save us from each other?
