mark, that's not an argument..... the solutions have to contain the pc's that support an industrial strength realtional database......
why in the world would you buy or develop new code and then try to run it on the older pc.
It will run so slow and may not at all...

thin client removes some of this, but thin client only for transactional users only, not knowledge users.

So, here is the postion a director of I/S is in. He tells his users that he's fixing their y2k problem or re-engineering their processes.
He buys the new ERP or redevleops the systems and implements it.
It doesn't run worth a dog on the old pc they had...
Now what is the user going to think....
Just put yourself in that postion as a user.. you have this great system, but it takes minutes to process something you use to get done in 10 seconds..... let me know how long it takes to fire your I/S director.<ggggggg>

Here is where he gets the money from...internet cost, long distance cost, and local phone cost are dropping so fast that he renegoiates these contracts and with the money expense he saves there he is able to buy the pcs and his budget does not go up...

Find out what your company pays for long distance ..I'll make you a hero next monday..find out and send me an email

So, what do you think...????????
