I think the ones to realy benefit from the reduced hardware prices are going to be the software mfgs. Of course MS is embroiled in troubles with a meddlesome fed and sore competitors but many others will benefit. CompUSA and other retailers have said that they are selling more software with the cheaper PCs than before the prices have come down and greater numbers of PCs are being sold. So even if the increased qty. doesn't make up for the shortfall in prices for hardware mfgs, the large qty. bodes well for software guys.
