No, not all types of aversion therapy uses electric shocks. But all use some sort of unpleasant stimuli. That is what makes it aversion therapy you know...

The best science says it isn't a choice. Be it genetics or hormonal environment en utero or something else, it isn't a choice. People usually realize pretty young what team they want to bat for. They don't get to choose. Sure, some try to deny and fight it, but their lives are usually pretty miserable.

There has been decades of studies done. In over 40 years there has not been a single case of someone changing their sexual orientation using these techniques. And there have been plenty of documented cases of people harmed by them. Usually adolescents who had the poor judgement of coming out to fundamentalist parents who then forced them into one of these programs. Not always, but fundies seem to be the majority of the ones who do this. I suppose the kids are lucky their parents didn't decide it was a demon causing their sexual orientation. That can go badly for a child...

Really? Every form of "conversion therapy" involves electrical shocks?

Just because you don't like the idea of a sexual orientation being mental

Yet that's exactly what the Obama administration will be doing. They will essentially say that homosexuality, by law, is an identity determined by genetics.

Gay people do not choose to be homosexual and psychologists have failed to prove that upbringing or socialization causes homosexuality so what's the need for conversion therapy? It won't ever work so why allow it?.
