Living in Austin, where it will not stop, I have no position. I'd like to see a study done of the actual traffic between Dallas and Houston to see if the thing is even justified. Both cities, Dallas and Houston, spread for miles and miles, have inadequate public transportation options, so, any travelers would need cars once they got there anyway, so will probably drive even with a train option.

No it isn't. Its a list of rail lines where revenue is higher than operating expenses, not total costs. (And I understand that railroads often lump borderline costs in to capital costs rather than operating costs when such calculations are done).
