There is absolutely no proof that it is a decision someone makes. Exactly what shapes an individual's sexual preference is not know and it is likely a combination of factors. Actually, as Dr. Carson recently pointed out, there is. An inordinate number of prisoners self-identify bisexual or homosexual on leaving prison who self-identified as straight going in. In one study of 142 prisoners, 24 changed their sexual orientations while in prison. Now, the author of the study said, "That doesn't mean they became homosexuals," but that's a cop out. If they came out of prison preferring homosexual or even bisexual sex, their gender preference was a choice they made, period. And choice doesn't seem to be one of them. Because if choice was a factor, then it should be possible to change that preference. That makes no sense at all. In our lives we make TONS of choices that cannot be undone. That's just stupid. Despite decades of trying, gay conversion therapy has not had a single documented case of success. Even with highly motivated individuals. I have no idea about that but it is totally irrelevant to the discussion. Most importantly, that there is no proof that it is a decision someone makes does not in any way disprove the science that suggests the contrary. The numerous studies of twins on the subject must be considered as scientific proof that it is non-genetic, and therefore a choice, until such time as science can prove otherwise. This is how it works. You're starting off with the wrong hypothesis. Talk about not understanding basic science...
