CJ,
Women seem to be more fluid than men.
It could be related to the reason why heterosexual women aren't as turned off by open displays of lesbian affection as men are by open displays of gay affection.

I also read a study somewhere which tried to reconcile the so-called "gay gene" with Darwinian survival of the fittest. In other words, how can this gene propagate itself when two men can't (biologically) have a baby? One hypothesis is that this gene exhibits itself differently between men and women. In men, it leads to homosexuality, but in women, it leads to hyper-sexuality.

Of course, the social implications of this hypothesis are a bit taboo to even mention here. Think about it.
