good article and seems to be a good example of confirmation bias. we see what we expect to see. I often fight with this in analysis - it's easy to find the conclusion I expect unless I'm guarded against this tendency. This also fits well with the studies showing that when we're focused we're often oblivious to things we don't expect to see (like the "did you see the gorilla" study) becuase we're so focused on our expectation.
