Anyway, I'm done with this. It's a very nice "global warming" day here in the northwest, and I'm heading outside to enjoy it..

Its not global warming: its El Niño:

But now, El Niño, which had been wishy-washy all autumn and winter on whether it was really going to form, has not only established itself, but appears to be strengthening. That's usually not much of an effect on the summer -- we can blame the locally warm waters for the hot/dry summer forecast. But if El Niño really gets going, it'll likely carry the warm and drier pattern into the autumn and winter. Those maps above look very El Niño-ish for autumn/winter.
