What an awesome idea. Should limit population growth in California over the next few decades. Especially if Caif. decides to go the Fukushima ocean water desalinization route.

Its for the fishies...the above cited article does delve into the reasons for this and why Oregon established its questionable law that supports this policy. Evidently July flow is a critical month for salmon in the Columbia.

There are a number of important differences between the Colorado and Columbia, starting with the fact that in spite of humanity's best efforts the Columbia still has salmon runs which rely on finding the right combination of salinity and water temperature as they return to the river.

Alas, the salmon runs up the coast into BC are all coming into increasing jeopardy due to lower river flows and warmer water temperatures due to climate change.
