>> Those are the kids who commit suicide.

Really, just stop with that. You are clueless. I know plenty of kids who had gender identity issues growing up who ended up just fine emotionally.

Who commits suicide at rates 20X the average? People who have gender change surgery says a 30 year study in Sweden:

.... McHugh cited a 2011 long-term study by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden that followed the 30-year trajectories of 324 people who had undergone genital and other reassignment surgery. Beginning about 10 years after their surgeries, the study found, those people began experiencing increasing mental difficulties that their transitions were supposed to have cured. Their mortality rate from suicide turned out to be 20 times that of the nontransgender population. “This isn’t some old study,” McHugh said. “This is from 2011!”

“Trans men are the most impacted, with 46 percent reporting an attempt in their lifetime. Trans women are close behind at 42 percent, and female-assigned cross-dressers report rates of 44 percent.”

Staggering and tragic but I can’t help but notice the assumption you project. The assumption that … “The people and influences in their lives make them so unhappy about who they are, they attempt suicide.”

When things become politicized, and this gender alternative movement has become politicized, I worry about things being boiled down to some simple criteria that can be thrown back and forth.

I have a hard time believing it’s always as simple as bully victimization.

After all the first person to assert “who they are” is unacceptable is the tran him/herself. It seems much more complicated, personal, and individual.

Outside the gender issue, I’ve seen a lot of people go through major life altering changes to get rid of the unhappiness in their lives, only to find that unhappiness resurfacing on the next path. Happiness just like despondency has an internal locus of control, IMO.

All I’m suggesting is brow beating parents and religious people may not be the key to helping out here. A healthy human being wants wellbeing for others and that includes happiness, and most parents are very much into that wrt their kids.
