3Com second-quarter profit drops sharply

But some analysts said they found little to celebrate in the conference
call, with continued uncertainty over business in Asia and adaption of
new products hanging over the stock.

''If you slice and dice the numbers a little, it's kind of tough to see the
(earnings) numbers go up,'' said Farrokh Billimoria, analyst at
Hambrecht & Quist, a San Francisco brokerage, citing continued
pressure over pricing, consumer adaption of speedy new modems and
over Asia markets.

Interesting links, thanks for pointing them out. For Japan news I have been looking at this one:

satellite.nikkei.co.jp

They post stories a little later it seems though than the ones you list that are from the AP feed, but I find that their stories are as much Japanese news as I have an apetite for.

The Yahoo site seems the most responsive in terms of keeping up on the averages.
