When I originally mentioned Fresh Off the Boat to you, I said it was about a Korean American family. That turned out to be wrong; its a Chinese American family. The reason I thought that is because the guy who plays the husband looked Korean to me. I figured I must be wrong..........I know, I know actors who play a certain ethnicity on teevee are not always that ethnicity but nonetheless, its annoyed me ever so slightly that he doesn't look Chinese to me. The woman who plays his wife........yes........if she were taller though, I would almost say Japanese. When I saw the show earlier this week, I decided to look up Randall Park on IMDB..........yup, he's Korean American. I feel much better......although I can't tell you if the accents are any good. Don't have a good ear for them. And it doesn't look like either actor thought Fresh Off The Boat would be a hit........they kept doing lots of other work after the first few episodes for FOTB had been filmed. I really like it btw.
