Twas the Night Before the Company Outing
Twas the night before the golf outing, when all through the city,
The young executives ran to the Driving Range, looking for pity.

The golf balls were balanced on the wooden tees with care,
In hopes that after the swing, the ball would not still be there;

The players waggle and figit, trying to get set in their stance,
While looking at their companions, hoping for an approving glance.

They are paralyzed, trying to remember all that they have been told,
Head still! Eye on the Ball! Don't let the left arm fold!!

After much contemplation and concern, the club finally starts back,
Quick and jerky, over the top, no doubt the swing of a hack.

The Player looks up immediately to see where it goes.
Starts to the left, and in mid-air it seems to stop and pose,

When, what to his wondering eyes, his greatest fear,
The ball takes a detour, as if a right-turn signal did appear.

Call it a fade, a cut, or a slice, the most distressing ball flight.
What once was left, is now heading hard to the right.

They look around, all frustrated and frantic,
"Imagine if I do that tomorrow!!", they panic.

Quickly they tee up another one, hoping that was a fluke,
When the shot goes more right, he threatens to puke.

Even after the jumbo bucket, his swing still full of rust,
He curses his clubs, and leaves overwhelmed with disgust.

But I heard him exclaim, as he walked towards the door:
"Why did I come here, I'm worse off than before."
