I think that gays should be allowed to have "civil" marriages but I don't think that any churches should be forced to be involved.

It's the same thing with people that perform services for weddings. Some services require rather intense involvement in the actual wedding (like wedding planning or wedding photography) and I don't think those people should be forced to perform those rather involved services either.

But, I don't see why two people shouldn't be able to form a civil or "contractual" union.
