Bill,
I'm in the same boat as you. Been long since '95 and hate to admit, but I too watched it go to $41 and all the way back down. Did the same with IOM. Ouch! I recently sold an odd lot of shares to pay for my Western snowboard trip this year; albeit grudgingly. Every one of us has our own risk tolerence and time frame for our expectations. Like many other aspects of life, things change and have to be re-evaluated. Ancor has gone thru many changes in just the 2 years I've been a shareholder. Each time something fundamental changes, eg O'Hara resigns (fired), I weigh all the pros and cons. And each time staying LONG has won out.

Sure I don't like having my net worth go down, anymore than you do. But in this game we play called The Stock Market, it has been proven over and over that the best way to accumulate real wealth is in holding solid companies (like a Microsoft) for the long-term, while making adjustments along the way. This may sound like an overused cop-out by longs, but can you name anyone that has achieved a personal fortune on the magnitude of a Warren Buffet, by trading or shorting as their main strategy? I'm young so maybe there are some out there I don't know about. If anyone can name one that is on a W.B. level, please post. One's never too old to learn something new!

And because I'm younger, I can afford to watch and wait. I plan on "retiring" by age 45. The only way I will be able to afford this option is to place my carefully selected bets now.

Too many people on this thread take things too personally. You can make money craig crawford's way. You can make money Kerry Lee's way. I just believe that in the end, going LONG with the right companies (read: plug in crystal ball) will make me a far wealthier person than the other way. Besides, I tend to have less stress related illnesses when I'm LONG. <bg>

Enough of my diatribe, good night.
