I finally convinced myself that the AFP report had to refer to a pipeline to be built between the Heglig/Unity fields to the oil refinery at El Obeid in Kordofan. However, the Arakis quote, above, and Lundin's surprise in response to the AFP announcement makes me wonder if the government has contracted with the Russians to improve existing facilities? Re Arakis statement that oil would flow by 4thQ99, it seems like only yesterday that Alexander was predicting that the pipeline would be in operation by 1998.
