By the way, AURA(Nasdaq) and OPC(VSE) were not recommendations made by James Davidson but by Doug Casey in his latest issue of the
International Speculator.

Let's be fair to James Davidson. He and Lord Rees-Mogg have made some accurate predictions which they have documented in their book,
The Great Reckoning which I have to admit, is a worthwhile read.

I agree that the stock positions of J.D. that appeared in Strategic
Investing
are one helluva' joke, i.e., a string of losses---just the opposite of his plan of "preservation of capital." But again, a few of his recommendations have turned out to be good. One example is
Seven Seas Petroleum. BTW, don't forget that he often told his readers that he might already have significant positions in the stocks he recommended.
