When he made those remarks we were nearly 10 years into the disaster. I know, I know, it was bad.

But that's the point: these policies appear to exacerbate and extend the economic misery, not help it. It is plain that Obama's actions have made the recession worse. And the more intelligent discussion surrounding the economics of the 30s has clarified that FDR's policy (some of which was necessary to keep people eating) had the effect of prolonging the misery.

I do not believe it is possible to put a good face on what's going on with our economy today. Those who are working or living off government are just fine but there are a lot of long-term unemployed who are suffering.

Henry Morganthau understood it -- "We've tried spending money. It doesn't work."

And as it has been pointed out repeatedly, when he uttered those words the economy was starting to take off

So it is pretty clear he didn't understand it. He was just letting his ideology color his perceptions.

It doesn't matter how many times you refute their positions.....they ignore it. Its why I am convinced they take these illogical stands because its serves their ideology which wants nothing better than to eliminate gov't and taxes
