Good points Hawk. There will always be cheaters and slackers - thus wealth inequality. I do agree with the need for a middle class growing and having the ability to consume. In my tunnel vision life of having been educated by GM and seeing the friction that union and management endured - I honestly believe that the greed of the unions were seen as too damaging and it took globalization and the demise of both industry and more so the unions for a healthier balance to have been restored - closer to equilibrium. I was a young pup at GM who represented management - yet was found to be a good new breath from the "shop rats" I worked with in quality control. The union would look for a fight to protect a weak worker and the workers knew it. It was a conflict that was not productive for quality or for profitability. It left the door open for a team approach to kick ass and that is what happened. Management got fat and cocky and labor got greedy and obstructive = failure and demise. I think the pendulum has reversed direction and the US is about to thrive again after having learned some brutal lessons. That's the positive spin - I like to think it will prevail. Bob
