I agree government shouldn't create wealth, but I don't see it as a hindrance,
regulations and oversight are needed.
Governments don't create wealth.. They may perform research that then is utilized by the private sector to create wealth (internet.. space travel.. etc), but they redistributed the wealth they received via tax revenues to do so..

And I agree that regulation and oversight have to be in place to avoid corporate abuses and harmful products. That's only logical.. (look at China's problems)..

I'm also not against social safety nets, but "handouts" should be reserved for those who truly cannot work because of disability or old age.. A Hand UP is what should be offered to those who are able bodied.

Was chatting with my 93 year grandfather today.. I asked him if he'd ever taken unemployment..

"Never"...

Personally, I've only taken it for 3 months one time in my 50 years.. I wasn't afraid to perform temp work, if required..

Don't work.. Don't eat.. Someone else had to work to make that money available for your welfare and food stamps.. I would rather the gov't subsidize small businesses in employing and training unemployed people than to just give that money to them..

But a lot of people don't want to perform menial labor... (again, I'm referring to able bodied individuals)..
