Telrad .... Greetings Shlomi many thanks for the telrad info... feel much better now about the manufacturing end... Guess that's covered... as no doubt you know, not only does nortel own 20%, but Telrad manufactures for Nortel... if they're good enough for nortel, they're probably good enough for orckit... <g> "Telrad Telecommunications and Electronic Industries, Ltd., Israel's leading corporation in the telecommunications field, develops, adapts, and manufactures Nortel products for the Israeli market as well as some overseas markets. Telrad became a Nortel joint venture in January 1997, when Nortel purchased 20 percent of the Israeli company." from nortel's website and a little more general stuff: "Telrad Telecommunication & Electronic Industries Ltd. is Israel's largest telecommunications equipment maker. The company designs and manufactures a full range of digital telecommunications systems for business and public sectors. Founded in 1951, Telrad is majority-owned by Koor Industries Limited, Israel's largest industrial conglomerate. Telrad employs 2,800 people, including 1,400 engineers." from nortel's website and read a few press releases re. koor/eci telecom/tadiran... Yes it is somewhat complex, especially when pair might have been added into the mix. Can appreciate your comments even more, about how much eci telecom must have wanted orckit... Would think the fit from kor's perspective would have been pretty good.... The Netherland's press release noted that "...PTT Telecom is the fifth major telephone co in Europe to select Orckit's equipment for adsl trials..." Three of the four countries seem clear (tho potential partners do not): Italy: (orctf partner italtel?) Germany (orctf partner siemens/italtel?) France (orctf partner ?) Would guess the fourth to be Sweden (or Switzerland?) and have no ideas on partner (lu?). Would think the next trial tender announcement might be italy... that one is way overdue... any thoughts? and the 10,000 line Bezeq 98 tender sounds promising... any serious competition? best wishes s
