Actually it was the Changes made by Bill Vanderzalm and furthered by Gordon Campbell, reducing NDP mining tax in British Columbia. That began the mining exploration again.
Previous to that Roca Mines was the first in BC to put a new mine in production in over ten years. You can Check the BC mining statistics and check it out.
The exploration of Shaft Creek and all the present activity, is a result of the friendlier attitude offered toward mining enterprises by more right wing (Free enterprise) administrations.

Under the NDP administration two high grade uranium projects in the Okanagan / W. Kootney region cancelled by a permanent mining moratorium placed on the mineral in BC under Dave Barrett.
A small mine I can see from my sundeck was cancelled because it was not granted permits to increase production as to make it profitably worth while. The owner who also owns the 1000 acre property is now in his 80's with no ambition left to proceed again. We still have large samples of ore from that mine in our shop. I'll try and post a picture of a piece. It is not hard to see the grade with the naked eye.

No business prefers to do business in a socialist environment. That is the world of Lunch Box Larrys. Who are not smart enough to invest in more than 2 sandwiches for dinner. While depending on those with initiative of those in business to feed them via a paycheque.
Based on my years in business. Socialism and business people, are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I do not expect the new Alberta. Government to survive more than one term.
