Report: Only 16% of Baltimore Teens Raised With Married Parents

By Lauretta Brown | May 7, 2015 | 6:57 AM EDT

(CNSNews.com) – A new report released by the Family Research Council’s Marriage and Religion Research Institute (MARRI) says that only 16 percent of 15- to 17-year-old teens in Baltimore have been raised in an intact, married family.

The report, released Wednesday and compiled in light of the recent Baltimore riots, cites Census Bureau statistics showing that, in terms of family units, Baltimore is “one of the five least intact counties of America,” along with Cuyahoga, Ohio; the Bronx, N.Y.; the District of Columbia; and Shelby County, Tenn.

The report cites studies indicating that children who grow up in intact, married families are least likely to experience poverty during their youth, because married families generally earn higher incomes than stepfamilies, cohabiting families, divorced families, separated families, and single-parent families.

The report says children raised in intact, married families tend to have better educational attainment and achievement than those from non-intact families. They are more likely to achieve higher education after graduating from high school than those from other family structures.

“There is a profound crisis in the black community, not just in Baltimore, but nationwide --the crisis is in marriage and family,” Bishop E. W. Jackson, Family Research Council Senior Fellow for Church Ministries and President of S.T.A.N.D, said in a statement on the study.

“Seventy two percent of children are born out of wedlock. Too many fathers are missing from the home, and an alarming number of mothers are still children themselves. Boys in these circumstances are inculcated with the values of the streets, and become susceptible to every negative influence.” Jackson continued.

“Instead of pursuing education, many embrace the attitude of victimization. Instead of seeking employment, too many prefer to hustle. Race and poverty become excuses for criminality. These social pathologies are perpetuated from one generation to the next.

“Only God -- not government -- can redeem the situation.
Only prayer can move the heart of God. Only Pastors led by God can shepherd people out the darkness into the light of faith, family and responsibility. The church is the only institution with the credibility and spiritual power to transform the lives of the people and communities they serve,” Jackson concluded.

Dr. Pat Fagan, director and senior fellow of MARRI, also released a statement on the report.

“The breakdown of marriage in inner city Baltimore is a tragedy for the city and the state of Maryland. That this level of public violence happened is not surprising, given all that the data tell us about the family life of the inner city,” he said.

“Three and four generations of single parent family life puts in place conditions of poverty, addiction, crime and abuse. Children who grow up in these conditions become hardened and distorted, as the riots made visible. The solution lies in the opposite direction: love and fidelity between fathers and mothers, chastity for the young so that they can be loving and faithful in their turn; prayer and worship to gain the strength to live this love and fidelity and neighborliness to help those around.”

“When this happens, educational success follows, and business and jobs flow into communities. Government can do much good, but it cannot deliver love, fidelity or prayer. Leadership on these must come from other institutions,” Fagan concluded.

40% of Food Stamp Recipients Are Obese
Supposedly food stamps — by which the government forces some people to pay for other people’s food — are a necessary evil, required to provide subsistence sustenance to those who are temporarily out of work. Yet we read this:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture looked at data from 2007 through 2010, then compared average weights of those on food stamps — officially called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — to those who weren’t. …

Food stamp recipients are far more likely to be obese than poor people who are eligible but don’t take the help. And they’re even more likely to be obese than those with higher incomes.

Fully 40% of food stamp recipients are obese, the study found, compared with just over 30% of those who don’t participate in the program.

Children of families on food stamps were also more likely to be obese than children in the other two groups, as were older adults.

Yet the government inflicts Michelle Obama’s horrific lunches on public school students out of alleged concern that children might become obese if given edible food.

As for people starving if this bloated government program were sensibly abolished:

At the other end of the scale, there was almost no difference among these three groups in terms of the share who were underweight — all were in the low single digits.

This isn’t the first time that this correlation has been found. The Washington Post noted a couple years ago that obesity rates in a Texas county where 40% were on food stamps was double the national average.

Turns out letting people buy their food at other people’s expense causes them to eat more. Who would have guessed?

The amount of money flushed down the food stamp program has exploded under Obama’s rule.

There is a technical term for the government using the money it confiscates to breed large blocs of voters who are fat, lazy, increasingly useless, and most importantly government dependent: social engineering.

Clinton Criminal Foundation Taking Money From Controversial Group Accused of “Serious Human Rights Violations”

Posted by Jammie on May 06, 2015 at 7:01 pm

If only there was some sort of government group with legal authority that could investigate shady criminal groups like those operated by these slimy Clintons.

Former president Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation’s Global Initiative are being hosted this week at a five-star luxury hotel in Morocco by one of the world’s most controversial mining companies, criticized for “serious human rights violations” by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice.

The Moroccan government-owned mining company OCP operates in disputed international territory in a remote part of the Saharan Desert and the firm has been criticized for removing the resources without adequately compensating the impoverished people who live there.

“Any time the human rights of a population are systematically suppressed in this type of way it’s a serious concern, and I think it’s worthy of attention,” said David McKean, who has studied the issue for the RFK center.

OCP is paying $1 million to help host the prestigious event and throw a private cocktail reception, to the dismay of human rights activists.

When thanking Morocco for its hospitality, the former American president heralded the country’s potential, proclaiming that it is “the Saudi Arabia of Phosphate.”

The reported $1 million donation is the latest to raise questions about the Clinton Foundation’s heavy reliance on foreign and corporate donors at a time when Hillary Clinton has launched a bid for president.

In his opening remarks, the former president dismissed the controversy over foreign donations, shrugging, “I just work here.”

Until just a few weeks ago, Hillary Clinton was listed on the foundation website as a “host” of the Moroccan event and critics see this week’s meeting as another vehicle for well-heeled foreign interests to gain access and curry favor in Washington.

These gangsters fail to understand the 90’s are over and people just aren’t dazzled by their bullshit any more.

Clinton Foundation officials have taken a number of steps in recent weeks to try and burnish their image as transparent –- promising to reveal the names of donors that the foundation said it inadvertently failed to disclose. That public relations offensive was apparent at the heavily-guarded resort in Marrakech. The policy discussions that made up the bulk of the conference schedule were open to the media to attend. The foundation took the rare step of also opening a “networking” cocktail party, where donors, charity workers and foreign leaders mingled over fine wine and Moroccan finger food. Clinton did not attend that event.

But the private reception scheduled for Wednesday night, to be hosted by OCP at different luxury hotel on a thoroughbred horse farm, was identified as off limits to press.

They think if they claim transparency that it actually is. Meanwhile, Grandma’s stench of corruption has made it all the way to the streets of Los Angeles.

Fake, tree-shaped car fresheners with an image of Clinton in the middle have been placed at the corners of Sunset and Amalfi, Sunset and Capri and Sunset and Allenby in the Tony Riviera section of Pacific Palisades, home to Hollywood luminaries like Ben Affleck, J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg, and Tom Hanks.

The air freshener’s caption? “Stench of Corruption.”

Clinton is set to attend three high-priced fundraisers on Thursday, May 7. In the morning, Clinton will appear at the Westwood home of Women’s Political Committee member Catherine Unger for a $2,700 per plate women’s breakfast fundraiser, according to theHollywood Reporter.

It hasn’t been a good day for Granny Clinton.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email account run through a private server was “not acceptable” and happened without officials’ knowledge, a top State Department record-keeper said on Wednesday.

“I think the message is loud and clear that that is not acceptable,” Joyce Barr, the State Department’s assistant secretary for the Bureau of Administration, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“The actions that we’ve taken in the course of recovering these emails has made it very clear what the responsibilities are with regard to record-keeping,” she added in remarks at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on government transparency.

There’s the meaningless word again.

At Least Four Clinton Foundation Trustees Charged Or Convicted Of Financial Crimes

Via Breitbart:

Shocking revelations show that at least four Clinton Foundation board of directors have either been charged or convicted of financial crimes, including bribery and fraud.

This newest, startling revelation is just one more of many in Peter Schweizer’s bombshell book Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich, the book that has sent the Hillary Clinton campaign and the media scrambling.

The book shows that there are many problems with the Clinton charity. In fact, the Clinton Foundation is so unlike a real charity that even charity watchdog group Charity Navigator refuses to rate the Clinton Foundation because of its “atypical business model.”

Court to wife-killer: Pay for your sex change yourself

Robert Kosilek was in drug rehabilitation when he met Cheryl McCaul, a volunteer counselor. He told her he loved her. He wooed her. He married her. Then on May 20, 1990, he strangled her with piano wire. He said she discovered he was a cross-dresser and freaked out. A jury in Massachusetts convicted him of murder and sentenced him to life in prison. With a lot of time on his hands he files lawsuits and appeals. He wants taxpayers to pay for a sex-change operation.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday told him No
.

From the Boston Herald:
A nearly two-decade legal fight by a convicted murderer in Massachusetts to get taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery ended in failure Monday when the U.S. Supreme Court rejected her final appeal. The justices did not comment in letting stand a lower-court ruling denying the surgery to Michelle Kosilek."This is a terrible and inhumane result for Michelle," said Jennifer Levi, director of the Transgender Rights Project for Boston-based Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders. The state Department of Correction, which has fought the surgery, did not immediately respond to a request to comment.State prison officials, who say the surgery could cost as much as $50,000, have said in the past they opposed the surgery because it would create security problems.Kosilek was known as Robert Kosilek when she was convicted of murdering her spouse, Cheryl, in 1990.Kosilek, now 65, said in her legal fight against the state prisons department that her Eighth Amendment right against cruel and unusual punishment was being violated and the surgery is necessary to relieve the mental anguish caused by gender-identity disorder."The treatment of Michelle has been cruel and unusual, according to two lengthy, thoughtful, and closely reasoned judgments," Joseph Sulman, one of Kosilek's lawyers, said Monday. "The DOC's behavior has been abominable as they have repeatedly defied their own experts in their eagerness to deny her desperately needed medical attention."The prisons department initially provided hormone treatments, electrolysis to remove facial and body hair, female clothing and personal items, but Kosilek sued again in 2005, arguing that the surgery was a medical necessity and denial of the surgery was making her suicidal. Her lawyers say she has twice tried to kill herself behind bars.A federal judge in 2012 ordered the Department of Correction to grant the surgery, finding that it was the "only adequate treatment" for her gender-identity disorder. It was the first time a federal judge ordered such surgery. But the state appealed and that ruling was overturned in December by the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a 3-2 decision, so Kosilek's lawyers turned to the Supreme Court.Good for the justices.

Idiot Democrat Who Voted Against Keystone Now Wants to Ban Rail Shipments of Crude Oil After Latest Crash

Here's something to think about .... go to an airport and watch the jets take off and know that each one of them is carrying almost two rail tankers full of fuel. While we're banning pipelines, rail shipments .... let's not forget to shut down the airports.

Posted by Jammie on May 07, 2015 at 7:30 am

If only we had a safe, underground means to transport crude oil.
Moments before U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey was preparing to talk about her latest oil train safety initiative, she received word that a 109-car oil train had derailed in North Dakota, with several of the tank cars exploding and catching fire, leading to the evacuation of a town of about 35 residents.

“Can you imagine if it happened here?” Lowey said Wednesday morning at a CSX rail crossing in West Nyack used by 15 to 30 oil trains a week.

With improved tank cars set to be phased in over the next decade, Lowey said the oil placed inside them also had to be made less dangerous. On Monday, she plans to introduce a bill banning all interstate rail shipments of Bakken crude oil if they are not first treated to remove explosive gases.

The measure would affect a large percentage of trains carrying crude oil through Rockland and an increasing number nationwide. In 2014, more than 410 million barrels of crude oil were transported in nearly 500,000 carloads, with most coming from the Bakken shale region in North Dakota, Montana and Canada, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Asked if a ban would be perceived as too drastic, Lowey, D-Harrison, said strong action was needed on oil trains.

“If they go up in flames, that’s even more drastic and think of the lives that are lost,” Lowey told The Journal News after a news conference featuring a number of local officials. “It’s essential that the companies who produce the Bakken oil understand that this volatility is a matter of life and death.”

When presented with the opportunity to vote for a common-sense pipeline that could already be transporting oil, Lowey voted no. The reporter apparently forgot to ask her about this.
