People who've never read the Bible are, among other things, culturally deprived.

But no, I grew up in a little town in the Bible belt and never heard the Bible read in school. No, that doesn't make me culturally deprived as my education wasn't limited to public school.

Can't remember hearing any teacher or school official pray in school either. One exception - a ceremony in the local high school held after JFK was killed. I wasn't in high school yet, the schools were out for a day and my mom and I went to the ceremony. Actually, I don't recall anything that was said or who spoke, but there must have been some prayers said.
