Hank,

How are you seeing Dell in the low 60's? You keep saying it, but it seems that you have nothing to base it on. Is it just a hunch or do you have some facts that we all missed?

Hank, you will see 60's very soon, perhaps 50's. Paul may have to hop on a plane soon to wash a few of your cars!

On a more serious note, this new downleg is real ugly. I now feel that there is a strong possibility that we will soon enter a bonafide bear market. Japan is selling US bonds and their economic problems continue to surface. Almost every day we have several big US companies announcing earnings shortfalls, most blame Asian flu. I was reading about historic stock crashes and apparently in 1929 we also had a situation of rising corporate profits in a low inflation environment before the crash. The problem with a low inflation situation in an overheated economy is that the Feds do not have a clear cut solution. If inflation was present then all they would have to do is raise interest rates to slow down the economy. The Japanese economy also faced the same delemna in 1988-89, they also had low interst rates and low inflation within an overheated economy. History tells us that this type of situation can be the most explosive. Meanwhile we continue to have analysts and the Feds tell us that low inflation is a positive.
