John,

see who has the best lawyer

Or, who has the best political support. MSFT has neglected the "Washington Power Game" in the past. As MSFT starts pouring money into DC, we may see the same thing happening to the DOJ as just happened to the IRS. The DOJ may be on very thin ice right now. Ruby Ridge and Waco have done nothing but tarnish the DOJ's image (the guy in Waco was a dangerous kook, but that does not justify the end result -- dead kids -- the whole thing was blotched from start to finish). If republicans pick up seats in the congress in '98, the attack dogs of the DOJ may be put on a lish. If MSFT does have a monopoly, it is a customer selected monopoly, OS/2 and Linux are out there for WinTel boxes, and there is always the Mac. Perhaps MSFT should encourage box makers to "give" customers the option of putting OS/2 on the boxes, hey may be even pay for it themselves? Then the "we hate MSFT" crowd could have an OS that does not come with an embedded browser. And if New York wants to join in this witch hunt, I'll certainly let the guv and the ag know that I vote!

Regards,

Rich
