No denying it they get subsidies. They get more in targeted tax cuts having the same economic effect as subsidies. Its just that the subsidies (even if you count targeted tax cuts) are a tiny fraction of what's claimed, and that the same time fossil fuels pay extra targeted taxes.

You need those shipping lines open to get materiel and sub-components for batteries, solar plants, wind plants, etc. as well.

The US had a huge navy when it was an oil exporter. The navy doesn't exist because of the need for oil imports.

Not to mention that the biggest sources of those imports is Canada.
