Ali, I second your disbelief that <high-bandwith connectivity will continue to accelerate and we will see renewed demand for high-powered processors..>

I use a very fast K6-233 64M SDRAM computer a work but the Internet connection is a T1 shared by 10 people at the same time.

I much prefer browsing at home with a Cyrix 5x86-120 with 32M FPM RAM BUT 128K ISDN connection.

This may come as a surprise, but that data has to be rendered. Moreover, if you are processing voice commands from the couch, it's pretty hard to get by with K6 inside. The fact is, not even the Van Winkle family will be able to tolerate the glaciel speeds of today's processors.
