Judging by Contest portfolio performance, it’s immuno-oncology stocks. But reading Paul Krugman’s blog, I found a more fundamental answer to the question. Check it out: krugman.blogs.nytimes.com Meanwhile, the Contest median closed Friday up 30.70% YTD (vs. up 28.08% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 20.27% YTD (vs. up 20.04% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 27.77% YTD (vs. up 25.39% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.05% YTD (vs. up 7.46% YTD a week ago). Last week’s first place DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 84.13% YTD, had another fine week, but the market Gods were even kinder to some of the runner-up contestants. So, although DEWDIL’s portfolio still holds the top spot, it’s with a narrowed lead. MCBIO’s portfolio, up 79.41% YTD, has jumped into second place and GUERL’s portfolio, up 77.33% YTD, is now in third place. At Friday's close, 49 of the 51 Contest portfolios were still in the black with a commendable 36 beating the NBI and 32 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 21.76%. Wow! Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: None (All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.) Enjoy a significant ASCO weekend biotechies!
