It will be interesting to see who gets the offshore Marine works for this Mozambique LNG project, consisting of a 2,38km long piled Access Trestle and three piled Berthing Platforms in about 16m of water, two for LNG tanker vessels and one for Multi-Products. The ships using this facility will be in the order of 80 000 tons.

These structures are located in a fairly shallow seabed environment, so there's about 8 million cubic metres of dredging involved, which more or less balances the onshore reclamation required.

As it happens I was involved in the costing of this offshore facility for both main competitors. The company that I was consulting for was requested to submit bids to each of the two main bidders.
