Im familiar and have worked on investing in Asia based on events, some of which pertaining to these Chinese companies.

While visiting in person can be enlightening, it often takes just a cynical and energetic mind to uncover things. It stems from the fact that lies compound negatively and often hard to cover your tracks.

What do you mean by DD? Due diligence?

SSE ran up partly because of the earlier massive slump coupled with the HK-China linkage that opened recently. It purportedly increased trading volumes. I have no idea why that would necessarily mean higher valuations on top of a slowing economy with risks of asset bubbles. A control economy certainly goes into odd fits.

Multiples are lower but US has one of the best reporting and disclosures around. Also not to mention best in class companies with fairly acceptable proportion of decent management and quality of earnings tend to be higher in the US.
