JIm, the research shows that cpq and dell aren't really getting eachothers market share until this month when cpq is getting some dell
share. Except for this month...can you show a few articles to back up you statement that it's dell against cpq.
the growth numbers show that cpq and dell are getting other mfg'ers share.
in fact the big 4 have 35% of share and they project that they go to 70% of the share.... this is why the 15% growth doesn't mean cpq or dell grows 15%...they are getting other share and hsall continue to grow at 2 to 3 times the avg growth rate.

we agree that dell might slow down..I've posted that for 18months and gave facts on it.
although the asia deal may buy them time to lower cost.
I guess I know more than anyone the weak die in this market,,, what history as shown is that the weak die and that means the big boys give even more share since the weak are gone.
you are incorrect on dells last 70% drop...
I have posted that dell has crash 20+ times and outlined when and what.
i've also posted that cpq has crashed 31 times and outlined when and what....
But, I say so what....

lets break the discussions down and talk facts...
you continue to just give me opinions and no facts.
I send you a bunch of facts.
let's start with this slowdown.
15% frowth is not a lsow down when we are this high up.
that is 12 million pcs...
so, that's 92 million pcs in 1998...
pelase explain why cpq and dell aren't going to ship 2 to 3 times the avg. ( as in the past) in 1998....
dell could have trouble since they need to lower cost, but I've stated that for a long time...way before you showed up.
a 92 mm pc unit volume is not a slow down....
these little ups and downs or normal when you have 50+ crashes in dell and cpq stk...
this cpq crash is a temporary one.
and it will be with dell too if they prove they can lower cost...
they need more volume for that.

okay, quit bouncing. prove to me that cpq and even dell will not get
3 times the avg. growth rate....
what facts can you bring up to refute this??????
that's a 45% growth...by the way...estimates have cpq growing a 50+% minimum in the 4th qtr.
and you have the numbers...what is cpq suppose to grow in the 1q98????
