Happy Bids, I have long suspected trouble from SE Asia and expected the bulls to be in denial and try to ignore the obvious bad news. They have no shame in contradicting what they have said in the past about how the SE Asia economic miracle will be the engine of growth now that things are bad SE Asia impact will be minimal. The situation is SE Asia is bad and will get worse there is NOTHING that can be done to save them and we WILL feel the consequences here in the US. When the street finally publicly acknowledges the seriousness of SE Asia much of the damage may be done to the stock mkt. 1998 will be the year of the bear. I hope to add some to this note this weekend. Mike

Happy, I still think that we will basically have a firm market through the nexttwo weeks at least, and possibly till about the 10th of January. Yes, Monady might be week if the Nikkei decides the plunge again (and it might), but I do not think the market will stay down by the end of the week.

As for McCabe, no relation of mine, maybe together with the LPD, they are reading SI.
