When I questioned it in CA, I was told they were afraid of AIDS, which conventional water treatment doesn't eliminate.

Water is processed before it is distributed. And tested for contamination. Yes, processing really helps with the removal of gasoline. Are you sure they are testing? This is the kind of scientific illiteracy you expect from liberals but you can never quite prepare yourself for the idiocy of it.
