My biggest problem right now is that I have no dough left to buy Borland with. I'm in hock up to my ears with the costs of opening a new office and just can't do it--but this is as good a buying opportunity as you'll ever see.

Borland has always been extremely volatile. This time, however, the sell off is due to the decision reagarding the amalgamation with VSGN. Borl is paying $160 million for VSGN through stocks when Borland's market capitalization is just over $300 million. How will this affect the number of shares trading plus future earnings? I think DY made a hasty decision and the investors are paying for it by seeing the value of their investments dwindle.

I believe that today's action in BORL is option related. A few days ago I wasn't sure it will close near 7 1/2 or near 10 on Friday (today). If I am correct, we will see the price recovering, starting Monday. As for the effect of the Asian problems on sales, at Borland, I don't think it amounts to much as Asian countries do not buy much of tools software. If they need one, they just pirate it. Australia and Japan are another stories, though. Del did say that he anticipates impact from Australia. This movement in the stock is just like the one that took place before the deal with OPEN was consumated. Effectively, it may make the acquisition less costly. Meanwhile, our loss in share price is only on paper. I am buying more at this level. Ghassan.
