Batcaveman [can't resist that] cheap prices in empty places is not a joke. It is the way to do it. Provided it doesn't detract from service later in the busy places. US market rules are not US market rules. Market rules are universal, applicable to all people and all species. It is culturally neutral. Maybe I miss your point. Everywhere, things are allocated by value = who values the most is the one who gets. Sometimes, things are allocated by government, but then the allocation is still by price, but payments are made indirectly via the political system in bribes or other indirect payments.

The invisible hand is not an English invention. Anymore than DNA came into existence in 1953 when somebody noticed what was going on.
