"Venezuela and No Korea and Cuba are the countries putting you and Bernie's policies into effect"

Actually, it is the Scandawhovians, Brits, Germans, French, et al. who are doing it.

And they are very successful countries.

Nope, you and Bernie have both proclaimed that childhood poverty is caused by too many consumer choices .. brands of cereals, sneakers, etc. Too bad for you.

As far as the Scandinavians go - Denmark is higher on Heritage's index of economic freedom than the US. Higher taxes, but less regulation. It scores higher on "Business Freedom, Property Rights, Trade Freedom, Investment Freedom, Financial Freedom, Freedom from Corruption and overall (lower on government spending and "fiscal freedom").

The others are ranked lower than the US, but have mostly been moving up while the US has moved down. (And their lower scores factor in the fact that their governments spend and tax a lot more, while they are freer in other ways. For example, Sweden beats the US on the majority of scores (while losing big on the size of government measure).

That's generally the case with countries with high taxes and social spending that are also very rich, they allow a lot of economic freedom other than the fact that they have so much taxes. Toss in a high level regulation and government control on top of taxes that high, and its a recipe for a weak economy.
