I had to back and check, because the talk of the redesigned PII. Here is what they are doing:

To trim the cost of the chip, the company will change the current form factor, sources said. The result will be twofold modifications to the Pentium II. By next June, Intel will start shipping a 266MHz Pentium II without any Level 2 cache, industry sources said. Cache is high-speed memory located between the CPU and the system memory, designed to supply the processor with most frequently requested instructions and data.

This does not sound like a "redesign" to me.
