Motherboard Brands and Bios Companies

I was surprised to learn this, but Motherboard Companies often use both AMI (American Megatrends, Inc.) and Phoenix Technologies/Award for the bios of their boards. There are many exceptions, but there is a trend for AMI bios more for Intel processors and Phoenix/Award for AMD processors. Also Phoenix/Award merged in 1998, but do know Award has been used on many Intel machines and the trade-name is still used.

Summary: It's hard to know what bios you have simply by knowing the Motherboard and CPU in your computer.
