Sure, Stalin and Hitler were BOTH responsible. They conspired to jointly invade Poland for example. Then they each a free hand to invade other countries of their choosing ..... in Stalin's case, Finland and the Baltic countries. In Hitler's case, the countries to his west and north.

Hitler didn't betray his ally, Stalin, until he believed he'd removed all relevant threats to his west. Hitler didn't begin the holocaust till after that either.

Imagine if Hitler had been hemmed in between Russia and Poland on one side and France and Britain on the other side. For all we know, WWII might have been avoided until Hitler fell on his own.
