The survey you cited represents something of a half truth. Yes, the median age is 24; but it is easy to see that most of these workers are kids. It is clear that the mode is around 16 or 18 and the second highest counts are found still in the teens. More importantly, 79% of the age 16-24 minimum wage earners are part-time workers with an average family income of $66,000. 22% of them live in families that are at or below the poverty line, and 68% are above 150% of the poverty line. Only 3% of these workers have a college degree and 34% did not finish high school. The bottom line is that you are here spreading the usual liberal manure. Yes, some of these people are poor whose work is not of sufficient value to warrant higher pay. These are the very people whose jobs will be lost when the minimum wage is raised.
