Scarlett:wiki.teamliquid.net theguardian.com She made an impact on the game Starcraft II for the following reasons: - She's a female gamer in a "sport" dominated by males. - She's a foreigner, which according to Starcraft II fans like myself means "non-Korean" because of the dominance of Korean pro-gamers. She was ultra-competitive and gave some of the top players a literal run for their money, especially in a match that was dubbed "The greatest Starcraft II match ever": youtube.com . (Fast-forward to the last 3-4 minutes to see the reaction by fans when she wins.) Now about her personally. She's rather anti-social, as pro-gamers tend to be. She's uncomfortable with interviews, but lately she has improved in that aspect. And she happens to be transsexual. But unlike Caitlyn Jenner who is going to cash in on her transsexuality, Scarlett prefers not to talk about it because it has nothing to do with video gaming. And I respect her for that. Unfortunately with the misogynistic sub-culture of video gaming (if you have time, look up the "GamerGate" controversy), she has to endure endless trolls and losers who try to make her sexuality an issue. I remember one troll emphatically claiming that he will always call Scarlett a "man" because he supposedly believes that people ought to stop pretending to be someone they are not. I wish I could have told that guy to stop pretending to be someone that matters in real life, but trolls are often immune to counterattacks like that. Ultimately she is one of my favorite video game professionals because she has a flare for the dramatic in spite of her awkward self. And I can personally relate to that. A genius in certain ways, a misfit overall, but there's a certain appeal in that paradox. And her transsexuality? Doesn't bother me in the slightest, except for the trolls and the losers who will continue to pollute the social atmosphere of video gaming, just because they can get away with it. Tenchusatsu
