Timing is everything.
If you bought the market in 1929, it took 15 years to break even.
that is provided that you did not need the money when everyone was broke and the country was in a depression.

If you bought the market in 1935, You nailed it.

1972 MF purchaces, Many went to 0 in 1974.
Buyers in 1982, the start of this bull are looking good.

Is the future foing to look like 1930, 1973, or 1982 or 1987 ?

I have an opinion. No one is clairvoyant. But many investors may be confusing their success with a bull market.
