The Talmud has Gamaliel quoting the Gospel of Matthew to the effect: "Look further in the book, and it is written in it, 'I have not come to take away from the Law of Moses nor add to the Law of Moses ... .' " Since Gamaliel died about 50 AD, that's an indication of an early date for the authorship of this gospel. Gamaliel's advice to Jews re. the Nazoreans (Christians): " "Men of Israel, take care what you propose to do with these men. .... I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God."
