Thanks but no thanks to any pooling models. If I wanted to do anything beyond back-of-the-envelope math/accounting I would go work for one of those i-banking sweat shops and try to fool myself into thinking I was actually adding any value. Talk about a lack of ROI!

Re. PSFT actually acquiring VNTV, I am skeptical over the short-run. As recently as this Fall PSFT indicated they needed to focus on adding value to their targeted industry software implementations. This means they want to make ERP not just basic infrastructure software but actually adding value relevant to their targeted industries. This might be their last chance to buy VNTV b/c if VNTV makes this quarter, I think the stock is off to the races and VNTV might get too expensive for PSFT to afford. Baan and SAP have targeted CIS as a focus but PSFT hasn't seemed all that interested. They should seriously consider using that high P/E to buy VNTV (we aren't sure if VNTV even wants to be acquired by PSFT) now while the deal makes financial sense. I doubt the market would punish PSFT much because VNTV is well respected by analysts and Gartner and PSFT could argue it would then have superior solutions over SAP, Baan & JD Edwards. That said, Peoplesoft already has a lot on their plate and they are kicking ass as is so there isn't any real near-term need to do a deal.
