Army refuses to provide Honor Guard for church's July 4th celebration
fox news ^ | june 9, 2015 | todd starnes

For nearly two decades, the U.S. Army has provided an honor guard for an Independence Day celebration at a Baptist church that predates the founding of the nation. But this year – that tradition has come to an end.

Officials at Fort Gordon say they will not be able to send an honor guard to a July 5th service at Abilene Baptist Church because it violates a military policy banning any involvement in a religious service.

So what changed?

Fort Gordon’s Public Affairs Office pointed me to Army Regulation 360-1 – dated May 2011.

The lengthy regulation states Army participation must not selectively benefit (or appear to benefit) any religious group. It also mandates that Army Public Affairs not support any event involving the promotion, endorsement or sponsorship of a religious movement.

-snip

While the Pentagon won’t allow an honor guard to set foot in a church, they have no problem allowing them to march in a gay pride parade.

Last year the Department of Defense gave permission for an honor guard to participate in Washington, D.C.’s gay pride parade – a historic first. An honor guard is also expected to march in the 2015 Capital Pride parade.

Baltimore prosecutor asked police to target area where Freddie Gray was arrested
The Baltimore Sun ^ | 6/09/15 | Kevin Rector

About three weeks before Freddie Gray was chased from a West Baltimore corner by three Baltimore police officers — the start of a fatal encounter — the office of prosecutor Marilyn Mosby asked police to target the intersection with "enhanced" drug enforcement efforts, court documents show.

"State's Attorney Mosby asked me to look into community concerns regarding drug dealing in the area of North Ave and Mount St," Joshua Rosenblatt, division chief of Mosby's Crime Strategies Unit, wrote in a March 17 email to a Western District police commander. The email was disclosed for the first time Tuesday in a motion filed in Baltimore Circuit Court by defense attorneys for the six officers being prosecuted in Gray's arrest and death. The attorneys said Mosby's involvement in the police initiative meant that she should be removed from the case.

Best line of the article...""Mrs. Mosby herself is now an integral part of the story and as such is a central witness ... " the defense attorneys argued. "This is a case where the witness and the prosecutor are one and the same.""

9-year old boy expelled from school because he said he "didn't like Obama"
April 29, 2015

9 year old Jacob Wheeler attending Rosa Parks elemenary school in Los Angeles, California, was asked to leave the school and "never come back" after he made some comments that the teacher did not approve of during a history lesson. The lesson, which centered around US presidents since the 18th century along with the current political landscape, was derailed when young Jacob raised his hand and said he "didn't like Obama". His teacher responded by sending him to the principal's office, where he was then told that he would be expelled from the school for insensitive and racist remarks.

Wheeler comes from a conservative Christian family. His parents Sarah and Brad Wheeler are avid republicans, involved in local politics.

"We've always raised Jacob and his brothers to love America, freedom and the right to bear arms. Those liberties do not go so well in hand with Obama's policies, so we've made sure he knows what kind of man is running our country. We're happy Jacob stood up for what he believed in in class, but the fact that he was expelled for being a red blooded American sickens me."

Says Brad Wheeler, when we meet them at the Wheeler's California home

"I got a mind to move out of this God forsaken state and put him in a school that shares our American values, but first, we're suing the school" He continues The family is now taking legal actions against the school for what they believe is restriction of freedom of speech and discrimination of opinion - they're not backing down until justice is served."

If the school think they can get away with excluding my son because he doesn't think like everybody else, they got another thing coming" We reached out to Rosa Parks elementary where principal Hugh Myrone Gaines answered our comments.

"Jacob disrupted the lesson in a very disrespectful way and spoke ill of our great, revolutionary and tolerant president. We will not allow such ignorance and racism at our establishment and we don't regret excluding him one bit. There's a time and place for freedom of speech, but insulting our great African American president won't be tolerated".
