Yes, I'm sure that's your view of it.

OTOH, government has been trying to "solve" the problem of the poor for decades and it has made essentially zero progress:



In fact, the actual data would strongly suggest progress has stalled terribly since government took it away from the free markets. We spend and spend and spend and the poor are no better than where they started.

Maybe it is time to consider other options.

In reality it is the same as so many failed government programs (Social Security, Medicare, War on Drugs, so many others): They continue because they exist and the ignorance of voters combined with the ill-intended demagogues, left and right, will not allow them to be disbanded. Even though they don't work.

Because of capitalism most people are NOT benighted and impoverished.

so many poor in this country.........in city slums and in backwoods, rural areas? That's the norm for most humans throughout history.
