Another reason is that the cacheless P-II is not a Socket-7 chip. Intel wants to push motherboard makers to Slot-1. Once Intel is completely out of Socket 7 business, and if the market shares stay the same, Socket 7 will be 15% minus MediaGX and MediaMXi, or less than 10%. With the prospect of market share this small, the motherboard makers will not rush to spend money on Socket-7 R&D projects.
